"Taylor Swift and Me: a Closer Reading"

"Swift's lesser-known works are also about me. “You Are In Love,” off Swift's most recent release, 1989, is written as a piece of wisdom on the nature and effects of love. This song marks an interesting development in Swift's work: the song does not inhabit my point of view directly, but rather addresses me from an outside perspective. The motivations behind this shift are contested. Perhaps she is recognizing her limited perspective in my love life. Perhaps she feels like I need a stern talking to."
